Vago sailors from across the globe compete in Bart’s Bash #bartsbash

BartsBash

I hope everyone enjoyed taking part in Bart’s Bash over the weekend? If you were unaware of this event – you must have had your head under a rock for the last few months!!

Tens of thousands of sailors from across the globe all raced against each other on Sunday 21st September in the inaugural Bart’s Bash event, to remember the sailor Andrew ‘Bart’ Simpson who tragically lost his life during a training incident for the America’s Cup last year.  The event is raising money for the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation, which supports and inspires youth sailing projects all over the world.  It was also attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the largest sailing event ever!

2 regular Vago circuit sailors from Hunts SC were also competing at the Southampton Boat Show Battle of the Classes event over thr weekend (also doubling up as a Bart’s Bash race).  So well done to Ed Deacon & Felicity Jones in vago164 who finished 14th and Brian Pitman in vago1444 who finished 31st.

For all you Vago sailors who took part out there you can see how you performed against other Vago’ers from across the world using the links below:

The results are slowly being compiled by the organizing committee (a mammoth task!), so please be patient while the numbers are being crunched.

Grafham SC Multiclass Event 2014 – Results

The Vago class enjoyed a fantastic weekends sailing at the Grafham Multiclass event with 10 Vagos in attendance.  Saturday provided some challenging variable lighter winds, with the breeze filling in for Sunday. A big thank-you to both Grafham SC for hosting us and to the race committee.   Congratulations to Dave Baxter for achieving a clean sweep of 1sts in the first 5 races to go on to win the Multiclass event.  Ed Deacon finished second with a consistent run of 2nd places, and Brian Pitman in 3rd, after enjoying a better second day.  Richard & Hannah Barnes were the first double handed boat, finishing in 4th place.

Here are the final results from the weekends racing…. Hope to see you all at Rutland for the final showdown of the season next month!
